L'Hostal de Piaghja
At the foot of the Corsican mountains, Piaghja presents itself as something of a place apart. You follow a track through the maquis, slowly moving away, letting the landscape take its place. Just five minutes from Calenzana and ten from Calvi, the restaurant appears in open countryside, with the mountains as a backdrop and the villages of Balagne in the distance. The address has that charm of tables you seek out for good food, but also for the calm, the light, the air, and that sense of pause that certain places instil from the first moment.
Some places are naturally suited to reunion. Piaghja is one of them. Weddings, birthdays, christenings or seminars find here a secluded setting where the meal becomes a form of continuity with the landscape. Corsican cuisine, inspired by family recipes and local produce, accompanies these moments. The rest requires very little, and that is perhaps what matters most: a beautiful table, an unspoilt setting, and the feeling of finding yourself somewhere that has kept its truth.
